Justice Anne Burke Endorsed by South
Side Leaders
Jacksons, Meeks, Miller, Davis, Rogers,
Dowell Support Top Judge
Illinois
Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke today received
strong endorsement in her bid for a full term from
several key political leaders from Chicago’s South Side
and south suburbs. Congressman
Jesse Jackson Jr., Cook County Board of Review
Commissioner Larry Rogers, State Senator James Meeks,
State Representatives David Miller and Will Davis, and
Chicago Aldermen Sandi Jackson and Pat Dowell all
praised Justice Burke for her fairness on the bench and
her years of service to children and the disabled.
"I’m a big
fan and admirer of Justice Burke. Her public service
career is exemplary. As a judge, she is wise, fair, and
just,” said Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr.
Sen. Meeks
said: “During her 20 years as a judge, Anne Burke has
shown no fear or favor. She truly believes that we are
all equal before the law. That’s the kind of justice
Illinois deserves.”
Commissioner
Rogers added: “Anne Burke is someone who all of us can
be proud of. Her goals are justice and fairness for
everyone.”
“From the
classroom, to the Special Olympics, to the courtroom,
Anne Burke has respected and protected our children and
most vulnerable citizens. Her’s is a lifelong passion
for justice,” said 7th Ward Alderwoman Sandi Jackson.
State Rep.
David Miller of Lynwood said: “Americans demand and
deserve an honest judiciary. With Anne Burke on the
Illinois Supreme Court, I am confident that justice will
prevail.”
Others
endorsing Justice Burke include State Rep. Davis of
Homewood and 3rd Ward Chicago Alderwoman Pat Dowell.
Burke was
appointed Illinois Supreme Court Justice on July 6,
2006, replacing retiring Justice Mary Ann McMorrow. She
is running for a full term in the First District (Cook
County) in the Feb. 5th, 2008 primary. Last week, she
was endorsed by the Cook County Democratic Party.
